佛学密宝首展英伦 佛学泰斗引领佛学西进

2015 年是中英关系的“黄金年代”,在2014年6月,中国国务院总理李克强访英,中英两国政府发表联合声明,宣布2015年为“中英文化交流年”。而在2014年3月,习近平主席在巴黎联合国教科文组织总部的讲话中阐释了儒释道中华传统文化融合发展的历史,倡导文明应相互尊重、和谐共处、交流互鉴。

为支持英中文化年活动在英国地区的推广,欧陆青年协会(Euro-Asia Youth Association)及东方文化研究所联手主办,协同英国牛津、剑桥及伦敦大学等友好单位,于2015年9月28日在伦敦市中心的 Mall Galleries 展览厅内,举办《生命之旅— —中华传统文化暨佛陀教育推广》的展览及系列活动。

本次展览因于六月间净空老法师应英女皇副官邀请访问英国,期间出席英国上议院 及 ROYAL KENSINGTON CHAMBER 活动,引起英国上流社会极大反响。此次为期一周的文化展览及活动正式邀请香港佛陀教育协会的参与,并有幸得到净空老法师的大力支持及鼓励。净空老法师将在活动期间分别从澳大利亚、中国、香港及马来西亚派出共约二十多人的代表团出席活动,参加中华传统文化展览介绍、佛学讲座及出席各大宗教交流讨论会议。

展览同时将会展出26件唐代至清代品质高端,保存完好的老唐卡作品。作为藏族文化中一种独具特色的绘画艺术形式,这些藏品曾在承德皇家避暑山庄展出,这是首次离开祖国在伦敦向世界人民展示中华民族民间艺术中弥足珍贵的非物质文化遗产。

展览期间,免费开放,欢迎各界人士参观交流。

360 Peace and Harmony Exhibition will give you an amazing show about religious work of art, Thangkas and also a new experience about Educational Foundations. It includes 26 high valued Thangkas, precious paintings and scriptures and also representatives’ on-site teaching during 28/09/2015 to 03/10/2015. 26 high valued Thangkas which belongs to Tang Dynasty, Ming Dynasty and Qing Dynasty will be shown. They were exhibited once in Little Potala Palace which is located north of The Mountain Resort (Royal Palace) and had an unprecedented effect. This is the first time that these high valued Thangkas are taken out of China to be exhibited in the UK. In addition, some precious religious paintings and scriptures will also be shown during this exhibition.

Venerable Master Jing Kong (pronounced & written in the Cantonese dialect as Chin Kung) also known as Hsu Yae Hong prior to his ordination, was born in Jinniu Town, Lujiang County, Anhui Province China, in 1927. He and his father moved to Jianou, Fujian Province where he attended primary school when he was nine

In 1949, Master Jing Kong moved alone to Taiwan and from 1952, he spent thirteen years studying the classics, philosophy, and Buddhism under the guidance of Professor Thome H. Fang, a great philosopher of his time; Zhang Khutukhtu, a Mongolian spiritual leader and an eminent monk of the Tibetian Buddhist tradition; and Mr Li Bingnan, a professor and master of both Buddhism and Confucianism. In 1959, he became a monk at Linji Temple of Yuanshan, Taipei, and was given the Dharma name Jue Chin and an alternative name Jing Kong. Venerable Master has also read extensively the teachings of Confucianism, Taoism, Islam and other religions.

Venerable Master pioneered the advocacy that
• Buddhism should be an education, not a religion
• He study & propagate the Infinite Life Sutra of the Pure Land School
• Self-cultivation must begin with the practise of the teachings from the Guidelines for Being a Good Person (Di Zi Gui), an invaluable education of morality, ethics and causality
• The concept of “many faiths, one humanity”
• Religious unity can bring peace and harmony to ethnic groups, political parties and countries.

Venerable Master Jing Kong is a world leader in interfaith harmony across five continents.
• 1998, Singapore’s shared interests, mutual understanding, respect & collaboration with 9 major religions
• 2001, immigrated to Australia, founded Pure Land Learning College Association in Toowoomba, Queensland
• 2012, with the support of the Prime Minister of Malaysia, Master Jing Kong’s setup the Malaysian Academy of Han Studies. Construction complete, end of 2015
• 2013, with the support of the President of Sri Lanka, setup the Nagananda International Buddhist University bringing together all the Buddhist traditions – a world first. Construction complete, end of 2015
• 2015, Following the Inter-faith Meeting 1.6.2015 at Kensington Royal Chambers and the 2.6.2015 meeting at the House of Lords, looking to set up an Educational Foundation in the UK

The main aim is to set up Educational Foundations globally to fulfil the following objectives:
• To promote peace and harmony
• To develop and train qualified teachers to teach and promulgate Buddhist teachings of various sects.
• To facilitate interfaith and multicultural harmony.
• To develop qualified teachers of traditional Chinese culture and Classical Chinese to teach throughout the world in the hope of bringing benefits to mankind
